Attention all 6th grade families:
This is a friendly reminder that all students entering 7th grade in the state of Washington must receive their Tdap vaccination (tetanus booster). When your child receives their Tdap booster, please email your documentation to our school nurse at Pari.Tabari@evergreenps.org OR bring in a paper copy to Shahala's front office. If your child is exempt from receiving this vaccine, please send us your exemption form.
Any child 10 years and older can get their Tdap booster. It is a requirement before entering 7th grade. If you are unsure that your student has received this vaccine, please check with your healthcare provider or check your MyChart account.
Where can you get vaccinations? Check with your healthcare provider, local pharmacy, or SeaMar clinic.
Our lost and found is overflowing! If your student is missing anything, please have them check the Lost & Found, located by the “self service” table at the school entrance. Jackets, sweatshirts/sweaters, lunch bags, shoes and water bottles are kept out on display in the main hall while more fragile items and those of greater value (phones, watches, glasses, etc.) are kept secure in the front office.

Evergreen Public Schools is committed to ensuring every student feels valued, respected, and supported. Starting this school year, students in grades 4–12 will participate in new Social Emotional Lessons aligned with the Washington State Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Framework. These lessons are designed to reduce harmful language and foster empathy, understanding, and respect among all students.
What Students Will Learn
This fall, teachers will lead three short lessons focused on:
Respecting differences among peers
Understanding how words and actions affect others
Learning how to speak up when they hear harmful language
Family Partnership & Washington State Policy
We believe our work is most effective when families are informed and actively involved. These lessons align with Washington State law (RCW 28A.345.130), which requires the use of inclusive instructional materials that reflect our diverse community, and with Senate Bill 5082, which promotes and expands social-emotional learning.
Beginning in 2025, Washington state policy allows families to request alternative activities for students whose participation in a lesson may conflict with sincerely held religious beliefs. Families can submit a written request, and students will be provided with an alternative activity at no penalty
Together, we can help every student feel a sense of belonging, safety, and respect at school.
